Ruben Lopes Jacinto is one of the most versatile musicians of his generation — curious and
deeply committed to musical and artistic creation.
His career spans a wide range of performance work in contemporary music and theatre.
He holds a Master's degree in Musical Performance from Trinity Laban
Conservatoire of Music and Dance, where he studied with Joan Enric Lluna and
Fiona Cross. He has won prizes in several competitions and been awarded scholarships
on multiple occasions.
He recorded Malcolm Arnold's Clarinet Concerto No. 2 for BBC Radio 3 and gave
the premiere of Simone Spagnolo's A Monologue with Radios at
St Martin-in-the-Fields, London. He is currently developing the creation and recording
project Elíptico. Lisboa. Londres. Clarinet Stories, with composers Jaime Reis,
Nuno d'Éça and Simone Spagnolo.
He recently co-created A Cada Verso Nasço with the PICA collective, recorded
Gonçalo Gato's 5 indagações for solo clarinet, and collaborates with
Ana Margarida Lacerda on SoliDó, a music project for babies. He has been a
member of the Lisbon Film Orchestra since its foundation in 2007.
With composer Luís Soldado he collaborated on O Sorriso de Sofia, Super
Diva (RTP 2), Lisboa Muda and O Corvo. He also co-created
Moby-Dick (named one of the ten best theatre productions of the year by the
weekly Expresso), O Som e a Fúria (Teatro Mosca), Sognimod and
Seravat (Companhia Mascarenhas Martins).
